London, Jan 3 (ANI): Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has admitted the team might have to top last season's tally of 89 points if the club is to defend its Premier League trophy.
The champions have 45 points but lay seven adrift of current leaders Manchester United, the Sun reports.
Kompany said it looks like City might need more than last year, but added that a couple of years ago had the English champions fallen seven points behind, everyone would have said it would be very difficult, but now since they have done it last season, therefore, nobody panics now.
The Belgian said once you win a title, you get that inner confidence in yourselves, and City currently has that confidence. (ANU)
