Kings have a Royal Challenge

They can make the most out of the Mohali pitch which does assist medium-pacers.

The Kings XI Punjab versus Royal Challengers Bangalore Pepsi IPL match here on Monday will be a battle of unequals.

While Kings XI Punjab are relying heavily on their foreign recruits, especially in batting, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are equipped with a world-class batting line-up and a reliable bowling attack.

The hosts will come into the match on the back of three consecutive defeats and another loss end their chances of making it to the play-offs. The Punjab team has won just four out of their 11 matches and is languishing at the seventh spot in the points tally.

The visitors had two losses in their last three matches but that doesn’t depict their form. Bangalore have a powerful batting line-up comprising of West Indian Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli and South African AB de Villiers who can make any bowling-attack look miserable.

The two back-to-back losses still doesn’t make Bangalore an easy prey and are still at second place in the points table with seven wins from 11 games.

Punjab, however, will fancy their chances, considering they have a good record at home.

Punjab have so far banked on their batting, among whom South African David Miller and Australian David Hussey have played some useful innings.

The arrival of Australian Shaun Marsh has only helped the confidence of the team and the left-hander proved his worth with a 73 against Chennai Super Kings.

But it won’t be easy against Bangalore’s medium pace attack which comprises R Vinay Kumar, the second highest wicket-taker in the tournament, RP Singh and the West Indian Ravi Rampaul.
