Bishkek, Sept 12 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid arrived in Bishkek on Thursday to attend the 13th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit.
During his two-day visit, he will hold a series of meetings with world leaders including Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev and Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev.
Afghanistan and Syria are expected to dominate the discussions of the SCO summit. India will also seek a broader and larger role in the grouping given the evolving security situation in Afghanistan, counter-terrorism and energy cooperation.
India has been an Observer at the SCO since 2005 and has generally been participating at the Ministerial level at these Summits.
Khurshid is also expected to meet bilaterally with dignitaries from other participating states on the margins of the Summit.
He is also expected to have informal discussions with his Pakistani counterpart Sartaj Aziz on the sidelines of the SCO summit. (ANI)
