Kazakh-India Inter Governmental Commission meeting begins in Delhi

New Delhi, Jan.9 (ANI): The tenth meeting of the Kazakh-India Inter Governmental Commission (IGC) is being held in New Delhi.

Officials of the Governments of Kazakhstan and India discussed matters related to trade, economic, scientific, technological, industrial and cultural cooperation, a Kazakh Embassy release said.

In 2009, Kazakhstan and India signed a Declaration on Strategic Partnership, which was adopted during the state visit of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to India.

President Nazarbayev also took part in the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Indian Republic Day as the Chief Guest.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visited Kazakhstan in 2011, giving a new impetus to bilateral cooperation and ties.

Today, Kazakhstan accounts for more than half of India's trade with Central Asian countries. It has reached almost 422.10 million dollars as of October 2012).

Diplomatic relations between two countries were established in 1992. (ANI)
