Thiruvanthapuram (Kerala), June 10 (ANI): Tension erupted when a group of policemen abused and roughed up a local journalist while he was trying to catch them abusing passengers of a bus here on his mobile.

The victim later claimed that some of the police personnel were drunk.

"I tried to shoot the incident of policemen harassing bus passengers on my mobile phone. At this seven to eight police personnel started abusing and hitting me before the ladies and children. I told them that I am a journalist but they did not pay any heed and continued abusing and hitting me. More policemen in civil clothes joined the scene and started to assault me. I am very sure that the policemen in plain clothes were drunk," said Vineesh.

No sooner than the news spread, other mediapersons reached the spot and expressed their strong resentment against police excesses.

At the Museum Police Station where the police personnel, both officers and men in uniform and mufti, scuffled with mediapersons.

They pulled Vineesh by his hair and dragged him inside the police station.
