JNU student kills classmate, commits suicide

The man had slit his throat and consumed poison after injuring his classmate with a sharp object.

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old girl who was attacked by her friend after an altercation, succumbed to her injuries. The girl suffered a fracture and brain haemorrrhage.

The victim, identified as Roshani, was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital after the attack.

Earlier, the friend who attacked her died after he attempted suicide.

Both were students of Jawaharlal Nehru University.

The incident occurred around 11.30 a.m. in room number 213 of the School Of Languages.

The man was identified as Akash. Both the attacker and the victim were from Bihar.

"Akash was taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) trauma centre, and he died after a few hours," a senior police officer said.

"We have recovered a country made pistol, a bottle of poisonous substance and an axe from the spot," the police officer said.
