Wellington, Aug 11 (ANI): American Jim Furyk overtook Jason Dufner with a one-shot lead in the third round of the PGA Championship, as Rory McIlroy got back into top form in the tournament.
According to stuff.co.nz, Furyk, who began the round two shots back of Dufner in a three-way tie for second, drained a 15-foot birdie putt on the par-four 17th en route to a two-under-par 68 that put him at nine-under 201 for the year's final Major.
Swede Henrik Stenson (69) was a further shot back while fellow citizen Jonas Blixt moved into fourth with a bogey-free 66, the report said.
Masters champion Adam Scott began the proceedings level with Furyk and Matt Kuchar (76) but lost his balance into a tie for fifth place with Steve Stricker (70) after a two-over 72 that included a double-bogey six at the 16th, the report added.
The game's two important players, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, both fell out of contention, with Woods battling to a 73 and Mickelson returning a 78, the report further said.(ANI)
