New Delhi, Jan. 19 (ANI): The two Italian marines charged with killing two Indian fishermen off Alapuzha coast in February last year, arrived here on Saturday to face the trial in a special court.
The duo had had left for Rome after the Kerala High Court permitted them to go for Christmas for two weeks.
They came back on January 4 and surrendered their passports before a trial court in Kollam within hours of returning to India.
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court had said the both will be tried by a special apex court bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir, since Kerala courts do not have jurisdiction to try the case.
The marines were arrested on February 19 last year for shooting to death two Indian fishermen from onboard merchant vessel 'Enrica Lexie' off Alapuzha coast.
However, the marines say they mistook the fishermen for Somali pirates. (ANI)
