Zaheer Khan-led Delhi Daredevils (DD) faced third defeat in the 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad. Chasing a good total of 192, DD fell short by 15 runs and lost their first match against SRH since 2015. Despite the defeat, there were some positives for DD. Triple centurion Karun Nair looked like getting back in touch after a series of low scores. However, he got run out on 33 after getting good start. Shreyas Iyer also did impressively by scoring unbeaten fifty in this match. When asked about the loss during the post match ceremony, Zaheer said, “Another great game of cricket. Unfortunate not to finish on the right side but am happy with the way the team is shaping up.” He also took blame on himself as he conceded 17 in the final over of the SRH batting and added, “I thought 180 was ideal but the last over I bowled is going to hurt me.”
Further, Zaheer also spoke about Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled brilliantly for SRH and continued to hold purple cap. “Bhuvi has been fantastic and the lengths he has been bowling have been really good.”
In the end, Zaheer expressed his opinion on Nair’s run-out and said that all they need is momentum. “Such things happen in the heat of the situation. We need to get onto a winning roll in the tournament. Momentum is very important in situations like these and I hope we have one final roll left in us,” said Zaheer.
