Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) scored 185 for 3 batting first against the Delhi Daredevils (DD) in Indian Premier League (IPL) match 40 at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday. Yuvraj Singh hammered unbeaten 70 off 41 balls, while Moises Henriques remained unbeaten on 25, adding 93 runs for the unbroken fourth-wicket stand. Winning the toss, the makeshift DD captain Karun Nair opted to field first. DD made two changes to their line-up for this game, as Angelo Mathews and Jayant Yadav returned to the side in place of Sam Billings and Shahbaz Nadeem. SRH made a solitary change, bringing in Deepak Hooda in place of Bipul Sharma. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Delhi Daredevils (DD) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), IPL 10, Match 40
Both Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner started strong, putting up 53 runs on the board inside the powerplay overs. Quite expectedly, DD opened the attack with Jayant, given both SRH openers were left-handed. However, Warner negated the off-spinner’s threat, switch hitting him for a six over deep point. They played rest of his spell with caution. Local boy Dhawan, for a change, was in an attacking mode from the onset. He was especially severe to Chris Morris, whom he hit for a six and couple of fours in the fourth over of the innings.
Warner was the first to go, as Shami uprooted his stump with a fiery Yorker. He scored 21-ball 30. Kane Williamson then walked in and started playing his characteristic knock: taking time early on and then going for the runs. Dhawan meanwhile did not last long, as he was undone by an Amit Mishra-googly. He scored 17-ball 28 before Shreyas Iyer took a well-judged catch at deep square to send him back.
Yuvraj and Williamson joined forces from here on. The two had a bit of an issue with their running in the last game. They did not have any such issue today, but their association did not last long. Williamson, after getting set in the middle, went to pull a bouncer from outside off stump to the leg side, only to get caught by Morris at deep square leg. He scored run-a-ball 24.
From here on, it was an all-Yuvraj show. The southpaw who was on 19 from 21 balls at the end of the 15th over switched gears in the final five overs. He opened his arms hitting Shami for two fours in the 16 th over, but the 18th over of the innings was the most productive one for SRH. Henriques collected two fours off it while Yuvraj hit a six and a four to take 20 runs from Kagiso Rabada’s innings.
Yuvraj continued to hammer the opponents, picking up two boundaries in the 19th over. He also brought up his 25th T20 fifty in the process. There was more misery for Rabada in store, as 19 runs came off the final over of the innings bowled by him. Yuvraj eventually ended up with 70 not out off 41 balls; scoring 51 off his last 20 balls. He hit 11 fours and a six enroute his knock.
For DD, spinners Mishra and Yadav managed to contain the flow of runs. Shami got 2 wickets and Mishra got 1, while Rabada went for 59 from his spell of 4 overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad 185 for 3 (Yuvraj Singh 70*, David Warner 30; Shikhar Dhawan 28; Mohammed Shami 2 for 36, Amit Mishra 1 for 23) vs Delhi Daredevils.
