Rising Pune Supergiant defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 27 runs in the 17th match of the ongoing IPL 10, to register their second win of the tournament. Chasing 162 to win, Royal Challengers Bangalore managed a mere 134 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Shardul Thakur taking 3 for 35 and Jaydev Unadkat claiming 2 for 25. However, Ben Stokes was adjudged the Man of the Match for his spell of 3 for 18, even though he scored a mere 2 runs. “We were probably in a pretty good position at one point, but lost our way in the middle. You don’t win a lot of games after doing that. Manoj Tiwary finished beautifully. It’s nice when those things work, sometimes they don’t. We had a lot better energy and presence. We lacked that in the previous game so nice to turn it around tonight. Manoj Tiwary was also in contention for the Man of the Match award, after his 11-ball 27 fired Rising Pune Supergiant to a match-winning total. For the Supergiant side, Ajinkya Rahane scored 30, while Rahul Tripathi top-scored with 31.
Smith scored 27, whereas MS Dhoni smacked 3 boundaries and 1 six — which went out of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru — to help their side to a competitive total. Dhoni also affected the dismissal of the dangerous AB de Villiers, stumping the RCB batsman for a 30-ball 29.
