Warner sounded happy with the wicket. He expressed after the win: “We know here generally, getting 180 you generally win most games. The wicket played fantastic.” He also applauded Shaun Marsh for his brilliant 84 off 50 balls for KXIP in a losing cause: “Fantastic innings from Marsh. Couple of basic drops from us in the outfield. It’s a bit hard at this venue in the lights, but no excuses”.
For Dhawan and Kane Williamson he had only praise: “He wanted to play his natural game today. He felt that he was holding back and checking his shots a bit. The way he played, it was the Shikhar of old … Williamson is a fantastic player, the way he plays so freely and elegantly, it’s great for our team. I’ve said in my previous interviews that we strive to find the right balance, and we’ve got that,” added Dhawan. Williamson scored 54 off just 27 balls including 4 fours and 2 sixes.
With this win, SRH are now at third spot in the points table with 5 wins from 9 games. Their next match is going to be against Delhi Daredevils at Feroz Shah Kotla on Monday.
