Ever since Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 commenced, all eyes turned towards MS Dhoni who was sacked as Rising Pune Supergiant’s skipper (RPS) by owner Sanjiv Goenka before IPL auctions. Steven Smith was made in-charge, but Dhoni remained the center of attention. However, his willow remained silent in the first four games of the ongoing edition and faced criticism from all quarters. Nonetheless, the former Indian skipper found some touch with a 25-ball 28 in RPS’ 27-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and his fans trolled the ones who had come hard on him. Amidst all this, former Australian leg spinner, Shane Warne also took a stand for Dhoni and termed him as a ‘class’ player. IPL 2017: Watch MS Dhoni send Yuzvendra Chahal’s delivery to M Chinnaswamy stadium’s rooftop
.@msdhoni does not have to prove anything to anyone, he’s class & a wonderful player in all formats. MS is also a great captain & inspires !

Warne stated that the former Indian skipper is ‘inspirational’ and refrained from the fact that he has anything left to prove in any format. Dhoni also earned the support of Virender Sehwag and RPS teammate, Smith, who were not bothered about his dip in form. Dhoni had a torrid time in the first four games with scores of 12*, 5, 11, 5. Questions were raised over the 35-year-old’s lack of power hitting in the death overs and lean patch. A popular hashtag, #Dhonidropped, also made the rounds in Twitter few days back.
Nonetheless, with a vital cameo against RCB, Dhoni will feel at ease and try to churn out a long innings in the next game. His huge six off Yuzvendra Chahal, which landed on M Chinaswammy Stadium’s rooftop, was the highlight of his stay at the crease.
