Mumbai Indians (MI) continued to impress all and sundry in the season 10 of Indian Premier League (IPL). On Monday, they beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 5 wickets at their fortress, the Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai. With this win, Mumbai have sealed a berth in the IPL 2017 play-offs. Skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front, ending the match with an unbeaten 56. In this match, Mumbai were without the services of their star spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was facing some problem on his left foot. Leg-spinner Karn Sharma replaced Hrabhajan for the clash against RCB. He conceded 23 runs off his 3 overs and picked up a wicket. Later, Karn scored 9 off 8 balls batting at No. 7.
After the match, Karn said that Mumbai can’t afford to break the momentum in the upcoming matches. While speaking in the post-match conference, he said, “We have qualified (for the play-offs), but we can’t take these four matches lightly also, we need to take momentum to the knock out stage.”
Interestingly, Mumbai have lost only twice in this season, and both their losses have come against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS). Talking about RPS’ Imran Tahir, Karn said, “Imran Tahir is number one bowler in T20 and I learnt a lot from him (while interacting with him when Pune played against Mumbai). In T20, the leg-spinners get (more) grip from the wickets, even if it is flat or otherwise.”
Talking about Harbhajan’s innjury, Karn told that the veteran spinner was not feeling good on Monday but will be available for the next game. “Harbhajan had some problem on the left foot, he will be fine for the next match. Krunal (Pandya) is fine,” said Karn.
