After Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 Match 20 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Lions (GL), GL bowler Basil Thampi said getting Chris Gayle out was the best feeling of his life. GL lost the match to Virat Kohli’s RCB by 21 runs, after stellar performances from Gayle and Kohli, both of whom scored their individual half-centuries. Gayle looked unstoppable after hitting 7 sixes and 4 fours but it was Thampi who finally got the better of him. Thanks to Gayle’s innings, RCB posted a gigantic 213 for 2 at the end of their innings and the bowlers later restricted GL at 192 for 7. “It was the best feeling of my life. It was my first wicket in the IPL. I got the big man’s wicket and I’m very happy to get him out. It has given me enjoyment,” Thampi said in the press conference later, reported PTI. “The main thing is that I have to enjoy my bowling. Nowadays, I am bowling well and I just keep doing that. I actually allow the pressure to bowl like that. I know that the batsmen can hit me anytime, but I can also build the pressure that time. I enjoy that pressure,” he added.
Thampi also spoke about bowling yorkers consistently. “I got my yorkers from tennis ball cricket. When I came for the camp, I kept on practicing it in the nets with my coaches and they motivated me to keep doing that,” he added.
RCB are at No. 6 in the IPL 2017 points table after the victory while GL remain at the bottom.
