New Zealand’s Corey Anderson produced an all-round performance for his current Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils (DD) against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Saturday. Anderson chipped in with the bat scoring 39 from just 22 balls, including 3 sixes and as many fours. In the second innings, Anderson did a fine job with the ball, picking up the important wicket of David Miller. For his all-round performance, Anderson was adjudged the Man of the Match and during the post match ceremony; he said that his DD are a class bowling side with players like Pat Cummins and Chris Morris. Anderson not only praised the bowling attack of his team but also said about how the bowlers were cleverly led by skipper Zaheer Khan and also some brilliant field settings during the match. “Zaheer set some really interesting fields. We’ve got a class bowling side with Pat and Morris. It was a clinical performance from the bowlers and everyone did a great job. That’s valuable, being able to chop and change. It’s about finding the right guys to bowl to the right batsmen,” said Anderson.
Anderson further spoke about the wicket, which he felt was a bit tough and said, “It was a kind of wicket which was tough to get going on. Sam (Billings) and Sanju (Samson) did a really good job to provide the platform.”
DD posted a total of 188 in the first innings and Anderson thought his side was probably 20 runs ahead. Headded, “We thought 160 might have been a reasonable target during one of those time-outs. In the end, it was probably 20 runs over par than we had to get. A good overall performance.”
