Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), after a string of defeats, finally won their second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, defeating Gujarat Lions (GL) by 21 runs. Royal Challengers Bangalore were jolted with the unavailability of AB de Villiers and Samuel Badree, who were out with a niggle. This meant Chris Gayle was roped in for the maverick de Villiers. Gayle, opening the innings, tore into Lions’ bowling attack to a 38-ball 77 inclusive of 5 fours and 7 sixes. Gayle achieved his 10,000 T20 runs in the process; becoming the first ever man to do so.
