Tye’s effort helped Gujarat Lions in restricting Rising Pune Supergiant for 171 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Earlier in the day, Badree had rocked Mumbai Indians when he accounted for Parthiv Patel, Mitchell McClenaghan and Rohit Sharma in the third over of the second innings to register the first hat-trick of IPL 2017. Till Friday, there were no hat-tricks in IPL 10 but Match Nos. 12 and 13 have witnessed bowlers having their say.
Interestingly, both Tye and Badree claimed hat-tricks for their respective teams in the first matches. Tye has now become the first bowler to take a hat-trick for Gujarat Lions in IPL history, whereas Badree became the second bowler for Royal Challengers Bangalore to achieve the feat.
