When it comes to facing a bowler, AB de Villiers is ruthless and is regarded among the finest the world has seen. It comes automatically to him, as he smashes the bowlers for runs all over the park. That’s in the field of cricket though. However, when it comes to the field of love, a whole new expression is reflected on de Villiers and it’s the expression of an innocent shyness. His shyness continued from his schooldays, when he used to write his romantic thoughts on a piece of paper, and stuff it in his rooftop. On Tuesday, while he was in Mumbai to promote a writing instrument for a pen brand, he shared his love story from his schooldays. IPL 2017: RCB to play for pride in remaining games, claims AB de Villiers
“I am a bit of a romantic — so any girl that I fell for during school days, I would write a letter but the problem with that was I was always too scared to give it to her. I would then go back home with the letter, with a lot of love in there, and I would climb to the roof of our house and I would hide the letter there. So they ended up being around 27-30 letters there at the end of my school career. All of them I was too scared to give it to the girls,” de Villiers said, as reported by PTI. “Now that I am a bit older, and have finally got married, I have decided to use all that [experience] to write letters to my wife. Just the other day, when she left for South Africa, I slipped in a little handwritten note into her passport which I knew she would read, once reaching the airport. I got a text message from her a day or two later when she arrived at home saying how much that meant to her,” he concluded.
De Villiers admitted that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) did not play as they desired to in IPL 2017 and he has already started gearing up for the Champions Trophy that will be played in June. “My next commitment after the IPL is the Champions Trophy, something that South Africa would love to win. India won it last time in England and they have a strong campaign around this year as well,” added de Villiers, who will also be leading the side in the high profile tournament.
