IOA seeking Singh's help

New Delhi: Rattled by the threat of suspension issued by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has decided to appeal to the government to come to its rescue.

According to sources, senior IOA officials will meet sports minister Jitendra Singh on Friday to request him to open a dialogue with IOC to solve the ongoing problem.

A two-member IOA delegation, comprising Narendra Batra and RK Anand, is also expected to visit Lausanne in the future to request the IOC to soften its stand. The sports ministry is believed to be not too keen to get into the problem and would like to keep a distance from the warring groups.
