London, June 15 (ANI): Celta de Vigo player Iago Aspas has insisted that although he is bound to join Liverpool next week, he is not a replacement for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
While Aspas possesses both skills and personality of Suarez as many have reckoned, the seven-million-pound-rated star doees not view himself as a substitute for any player in Liverpool and is prepared to embark on his career path in the club, the Mirror reports.
Aspas said that Liverpool being one of the biggest clubs in the world remains to be an important platform for his career and he will not become a replacement for anyone, adding that he is confident about his abilities that will enable him to grow as a player.
Aspas explained that he touted the move as 'emotional' only because he believes that he has reached another level at the club and intends to showcase his talents and capability of playing at this level.
The Spanish footballer further expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and hoped to be helped in settlement by all the Spanish speakers at the club including Suarez.
According to the report, Aspas was Celta's top scorer and has also created 70 -goal-scoring opportunities, even as his temperament matches that of Suarez who has been banned for 10 games after he had bitten Chelsea's Brainslav Ivanovic.
Aspas might have to wait for the deal to be completed despite the transfer being confirmed as a dispute over the agent rights is being investigated, the report added. (ANI)
