New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) It is time to know about the future of design worldwide and what role India plays in it -- and the India Design Forum (IDF) is all set to discuss this and more at its second edition.
Starting March 15, the two-day event will take place at Mumbai's National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA).
For Aishwarya and Rajshree Pathy, the founders of IDF, the platform would not only celebrate India's distinctive design aesthetic, but would also thresh out core issues concerning the industry.
"The India Design Forum 2013 will bring global design thought leaders together in Mumbai to enable strategic alliances, encourage dialogue between academia and industry and facilitate cross design cultural thinking and application," said Aishwarya.
Issues like product and industrial design, urbanisation, sustainable architecture, innovation and technology, would be the focal point of discussion along with design education, fashion and luxury.
Said Rajshree: "'What is the future of design and what role will India play in it?' - is the core issue addressed by IDF. The platform will feature about 20 speakers and leading experts from multiple design disciplines. The speakers will examine how designs inform the world and change our lives, every day."
Some of the key speakers include celebrated designers Christian Louboutin, Abanti, Rahul Mehrohtra, Anoushka Hempel, and Ross Lovegrove.
This year IDF will also honour the best in various design disciplines by giving them awards.
