Islamabad, May 8 (ANI): Pakistan opening batsman Imran Farhat has insisted that he was not selected in the ICC Champions Trophy team on family recommendations, and that his performance was his only barometer.
Farhat has often been taunted because of his close relation with former Test cricketer and chief selector Mohammad Illyas. However, the left-handed batsman said that being the son-in-law of Illyas has never been the reason for his inclusion in the team, reports The Express Tribune.
Farhat said he never took advantage of his relation with Illyas. He added that nobody helps him on the pitch, but he performs well and that is how he gets selected.
The seasoned opener, while speaking about the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, said that all the batsmen were aware of their responsibilities and hoped for an improved show.(ANI)
