Horses to be major part of 'ailing' Gascoigne's booze addiction treatment

London, Feb 6(ANI): Paul Gascoigne, who has been checked into an alcohol rehabilitation clinic, will undergo a revolutionary treatment that would involve horses to battle his addiction to booze.

A clinic hopes forming friendships with the animals will change his approach to life, the Daily Star reports.

Gazza along with other patients will be encouraged to talk, touch and learn to trust the horses, it reported.

Troubled Gazza on Tuesday checked into a desert rehab clinic near Phoenix, Arizona, after his celebrity pals agreed to pay the 6,000 pound-a-week bill.

The England football team led by Steven Gerrard has vowed to help finance the trip and other pals led by DJ Chris Evans have also rallied round.

Once Gazza dries out, medics will try to tackle the issues driving him to drink. The clinic's programme includes equine- assisted psychotherapy, involving working with horses on its 14-acre campus, the paper said.

The centre claims a horse can become a therapeutic tool by providing a model of predictable, honest behaviour.

Gascoigne's spokesman said he would stay there for as long as it takes to get him well, adding once Gazza has completed detoxification, the treatment will start to try to solve his long-term problems. (ANI)
