Sydney, Feb 21 (ANI): All rounder Moises Henriques has claimed Australian fast bowlers are fit and prepared for energy-sapping Chennai Test against India, starting on Friday.
Australia made the surprise move on Wednesday of announcing their side two days before the four-Test series against India starts and are determined to focus on pace, News.com.au reports.
Henriques was named to make his debut in the vital allrounder's role ahead of uncapped Victoria off spinner Glenn Maxwell.
Australia will gamble on Henriques' brand of reverse-swing bowling to complement frontline quicks Mitchell Starc, Peter Siddle and James Pattinson and the off spin of Nathan Lyon, the paper said.
India in contrast is likely to pick four spinners on a grass-less Chidambaram Stadium pitch.
Henriques said the exhaustion and the energy it takes out of the bowlers to keep repeating those types of things is a factor in short-pitched bowling), adding they have got some pretty fit bowlers, and that is the strength of the Australian side.
Henriques added with James Pattinson and Mitchell Starc and Peter Siddle, there are three very fiery quicks there in the team, and that is the Australian team's strength and they have to play to that strength.
The all rounder added they do have a couple of part-time spin options too in left-arm spinner Michael Clarke and leg spinner David Warner, adding going in with the three quicks and himself, they play to their strengths.
Henriques added the fast bowlers are going to be the ones who are looked upon to take the wickets.
Skipper Clarke has overcome a hamstring complaint while opener Warner will play despite not having fully recovered from a fractured thumb.
