The Indian Air Force (IAF) has said that the force hasn't ended its association with Sachin Tendulkar, who, on Tuesday was dropped as its brand ambassador.
"Sachin remains honorary Group Captain in the Indian Air Force. He cannot be described as brand ambassador but remains part of Indian Air Force family. IAF have not been able to utilise his values because of conflicting dates, IAF is working on it," a source in the IAF told news channel CNN-IBN.
Tendulkar dropped by Indian Air Force
The IAF also said the rank of Group Captain conferred on Tendulkar will remain. Tendulkar was the first sportsperson to be conferred a rank by IAF and the first personality with no aviation background to receive the honour.
But the partnership between two iconic institutions of India failed to yield the desired fruit, leading to the Air Force to sever ties with Tendulkar.
A report in India Today stated that the IAF had decided to replace the legendary cricketer with its trainer aircraft ‘Pilatus’, pictures of which would now be used to attract youngsters to a life in the air.
