Shikhar Dhawan continued his rich vein of form at Mohali on Tuesday night as his 71 and century partnership with Parthiv Patel for the first wicket helped Sunrisers Hyderabad easily overhaul the target of 169 set by Kandurata Maroons in the second qualifier of the 2013 Champions League.

Dhawan has hit a purple patch since he blitzed his maiden Test century on debut against Australia, but the left-handed opening batsman said he has a lot to learn about captaincy, and would do so even from mistakes.

"This was a totally a new experience for me as a captain. It was my first day as captain so I have a lot to learn. he was quoted as saying by PTI. "I will make a lot of mistakes, and have to learn from them. It is part and parcel of the captaincy."

Dhawan also said that he should have given leg spinner Amit Mishra more than just the one over to bowl, but justified his decision by stating that he didn't feel that the Mohali wicket would support turn. "Plus they had a lot of left-handers so we didn't think the spinners would do much."

Kandurata Maroons captain Lahiru Thirimanne, who scored 54, was unhappy with his bowlers' efforts and said they didn't have a plan while bowling to the opposition. "I think 170 was a very good score on this pitch. In the end of the day, it was hard to contain runs. Getting Dhawan was a valuable wicket. So was Parthiv's. It was hard to contain runs as bowlers did not bowl to a plan. We need to improve our bowling," he said.

Kandurata Maroons's next match is against Otago Volts on Wednesday afternoon; while Sunrisers Hyderabad face Faisalabad Wolves in the night match on the same day.
