Haddin catches Faulkner's fingers in eye during mistimed high-five celebration

Sydney, Oct 14 (ANI): Australian fast bowler James Faulkner caught wicketkeeper Brad Haddin flush in the right eye in a mistimed high-five effort after getting rid of opener Shikhar Dhawan in the first one-dayer against India in Pune last night.

According to News.com.au, Haddin immediately went down on his haunches and after receiving treatment tried to carry on behind the stumps but stood for just one more delivery before leaving the field for treatment on his visibly red eye.

He remained off the field for 22 overs, with batsman Australian batsman Phillip Hughes taking over the wicketkeeping duties, the report said.

Hughes took two catches in his time behind the stumps, a nice grab high to his right to remove Rohit Sharma for 42 off the bowling of Shane Watson in the 13th over and a chest high effort to remove Yuvraj Singh off the bowling of Mitchell Johnson in the 28th over before he immediately handed the gloves back to a recovered Haddin, the report added.

India was chasing Australia's total of 8/304 but fell short, being dismissed for 232, the report further said.

Australia's 72-run upset win was largely thanks to man of the match Aussie skipper George Bailey (85 runs off 82 balls) and powerful opener Aaron Finch (72 off 79), according to the report. (ANI)
