Gujarat voted for development and Modi's leadership: Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Dec. 20 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said the people of Gujarat had again shown faith in Chief Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and the development being carried out by his government, despite the Congress Party's several attempts to divide them on communal lines.

Expressing happiness over the Gujarat State Assembly poll results, Gadkari thanked and congratulated the people of the state for re-electing the BJP.

"Gujarat has expressed faith in the politics of development and the state government has strengthened itself as a role model in the country. The people of Gujarat have once again elected the BJP under Modi' leadership. I strongly believe that Gujarat will continue to witness tremendous development under his leadership in the future also," said Gadkari.

"The Congress tried to play the communal card, but failed. I thank the people who have voted for the BJP again. I also congratulate the party workers, leaders and the people of Gujarat for this victory," he added.

Poll trends at 3 p.m. reveal that the BJP is likely to win around 122 seats, while Congress may get 55 seats.

The BJP is set to form its government for the fifth time in the state. Modi will be chief minister for a third straight term. (ANI)
