'Govt. has not taken any view to make CAG multi-member body': Chidambaram

Chennai, Nov. 12 (ANI): Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Monday said the Congress-led UPA Government has not taken any view to make the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) a multi-member body.

"All I have seen on all the channels is Mr. Narayanasamy has denied that he made any reference to that part to the Shunglu Committee report. Apparently, he was asked generally what are you doing about the Shunglu Committee report and he said that it is under active consideration, that's what he has said. I have not read the Shunglu Committee report. Therefore, there is no view of the government as such," said Chidambaram.

"I don't know why you are saying that the government has taken a view. If the government is taking a view obviously the Finance Minister will be involved in that. The government has not taken any view on the matter," he added.

Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office V. Narayanasamy earlier on Sunday out rightly denied media report of the UPA Government mulling over making CAG a multi-member body, saying he was misquoted. (ANI)
