GOP warns CNN, NBC to cancel Hillary Clinton programming or be cut out of presidential debates

Washington, Aug. 6 (ANI): Republican Party leaders have warned CNN and NBC to shelve its plans to run lengthy features on Hillary Clinton or be cut out from the next Republican presidential debates.

Clinton is widely expected to be a Democratic candidate in the 2016 election.

According to Fox News, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus accused both the networks of trying to put a 'thumb on the scales' of the 2016 race with programming that would be equivalent to an 'in-kind donation' to the Clinton campaign.

Last month, CNN Films announced it was producing a documentary on Clinton to premiere next year.

NBC also announced a four-hour Hillary miniseries starring Diane Lane, on the life of the former secretary of state and First Lady, it added.

In a written statement, Priebus said if the networks do not meet his demands, he will seek a binding vote at the upcoming August 14 RNC meeting.

He said that the party will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor if the programming is not shelved. (ANI)
