Wellington, Mar 4 (ANI): Three golfers Judy Morten, Brent Maguire and John Hopkirk, scored three aces at the Manor Park Golf Club in Lower Hutt, New Zealand on Saturday to achieve an unbelievable feat.
A hole-in-one is a rare thing, but three on the same day at the same course is almost incredible, Stuff.co.nz reports.
Making the treble of one-shot marvels all the more special was that none were by players out for a casual game of golf, and all three were participating in Wellington interclub competitions, the paper said.
Morten scored her one on the 100-metre par-three 16th, and the 66-year-old, who plays off a 16 handicap, said the group ahead of her on the green reacted first.
Maguire and Hopkirk both scored theirs on the 178m par-three second, and their teams were opponents in the 10th division interclub grade.
Maguire, an 11 handicapper, said he knew he had hit a good shot but was not convinced the ball had been holed because of the reaction of the group ahead waiting by the green.
Maguire added he had only been playing golf for the last five years after hanging up his cricketing boots.
Meanwhile, Hopkirk, is another relative newcomer to golf after playing rugby to the age of 49, and like Maguire, he was hitting towards a low morning sun and had little idea the ball had gone in, the paper added. (ANI)
