London, Dec 30(ANI): Former fast bowler Jason Gillespie believes Australia would be the underdogs against an in form England team, who beat India in their recently concluded Test series in the sub-continent, during next year's Ashes series.
England's win against India has re-established Alastair Cook's men as a real force in Test cricket following a forgettable 12 months, and that stunning victory will act as a reminder to Australia of just how tough their Ashes task will be as they look to prevent England from recording a hat-trick of successes.
Gillespie said beating India on their home turf is one the toughest tasks, and added England team's confidence would be sky high after achieving this amazing achievement, the Daily Mirror reports.
Gillespie said England played top cricket throughout their tour to India and are certainly favourites for next year's Ashes.
Gillespie, now coach of Yorkshire, said he will also be relishing the prospect of Cook and Australia skipper Michael Clarke clashing for the first time.
England's series win in India was the first by a touring side in the country since Ricky Ponting's Australia in 2004, and it was also their first win in India for 28 years. (ANI)
