Fulham owner Shahid Khan calls removal of Jackson statue `right thing`

London, Sept 21 (ANI): Fulham owner Shahid Khan has said that removing the Michael Jackson statue outside its stadium Craven Cottage was the right thing to do, while the statue is set to be returned to the club's former owner Mohamed El Fayed.

According to the BBC, it was installed behind the Hammersmith Stand in 2011 as a tribute to Jackson, who visited the ground in 1999, but split opinion among fans.

Khan said that he respected Al Fayed and knew that he had good intentions in paying an individual tribute, but the removal of the statue was the right thing for the club.

A Fulham spokesperson said that the statue was not part of the Riverside development of the stadium and will be returned to the former chairman in due course. (ANI)
