France, Peru to strengthen bilateral relations

Paris, Oct 10 (IANS) French President Francois Hollande and his Peruvian counterpart Ollanta Humala Tasso have expressed willingness to further cement ties between their countries.

According to a statement released by the president's office here, both leaders vowed to reinforce bilateral economic exchanges and strengthen cooperation mainly in transport, sustainable development, health and energy as well in cultural and academic issues, Xinhua reported Wednesday.

During a meeting, Hollande and Tasso also discussed ways to boost the "development of cooperation in defence and security, including in the field of high technology, which is a priority of the bilateral partnership".

Cooperation on the fight against climate change was also on their agenda.
