Flintoff says former team-mate Pietersen may quit Tests after Ashes

Johannesburg, Apr 19 (ANI): Retired England captain Andrew Flintoff has said that his former team-mate Kevin Pietersen may consider quitting Test cricket after playing in the upcoming back-to-back Ashes series against Australia.

Pietersen has been ruled out of next month's two-match Test series at home to New Zealand because of a knee injury he sustained during fielding practice in the away series against the same side last month, Sport24 reports.

Although the former all-rounder said that he expected Pietersen to play in the upcoming 10 Tests against Australia and help England win, he however added that it is doubtful if Pietersen will play Test cricket after the Ashes.

According to Flintoff, Pietersen may focus on playing in the lucrative Indian Premier League tournaments and other Twenty20 games around the world, for which he will probably consider his future in Test matches after the Ashes.

Last year, Pietersen had committed to play for England in all three forms of the game until at least 2015 after making peace with the England and Wales Cricket Board in a row over 'provocative' text messages that led to him being dropped, the report added. (ANI)
