New Delhi, Feb. 2 -- Five men were arrested for their alleged involvement in four separate cases of sexual assault, including a gangrape, till Friday, police said.
The first arrests to be made were of Shejad, 29, and one Fukran Ali, 23. The duo was accused of having fed a 16-year-old housemaid tea laced with sedatives, before taking turns to rape her at southeast Delhi's Batla House on January 26.
"That day, the victim bumped into one of her previous employers who then lured her to the two men," said an officer, adding that the two were arrested on Thursday evening.
In another incident, a 28-year-old Chandigarh-based businessman, later identified as one Balwinder Singh Sandhu, was arrested for allegedly raping a married woman on the pretext of marrying her at south Delhi's Neb Sarai.
"The victim said Sandhu had taken up accommodation in her neighbourhood some months ago. He had befriended her, gotten physically intimate with her after a false promise of marriage and then, one fine day, had simply disappeared," said an officer. Sandhu, too, was arrested on Thursday evening.
The third incident saw 30-year-old Deepak being arrested for allegedly raping his sister-in-law at south Delhi's Mehrauli. Deepak had allegedly been raping the victim since November last year and had threatened her against revealing it to anyone.
One Kapil, 24, who had allegedly raped one of his neighbours, was also arrested from Vasant Kunj.
