New Delhi, June 20 (ANI): 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' co-stars, Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor, along with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, launched the first look of the upcoming flick in Mumbai.
Speaking at the event, Mehra said that the film is not about sports but about the triumph of a human spirit.
"It's not a movie on sports and this is not a movie about sports man, Milkha Sir is a sports man is incidental to the film. It is a movie about the triumph of a human spirit. This could be a film about Bhagat Singh, Vivekanand or Gandhi. It happens to be about Milkha Singh," the filmmaker said.
Akhtar, who played the role of the iconic athlete, looked excited on the occasion and said that he is happy to be a part of this special movie.
"When Rakesh came up with this story to me, he read it to me in 25 minutes. And after hearing the story I felt that it's a special story and it's very important to show this story to everyone because it's about an inspirational Indian," the 39-year-old actor said.
Akhtar asserted that it's very important to show such inspirational films in order to awake national pride among countrymen.
He insisted that he felt really good that he got the opportunity to do the role and meet Mehra.
The biographical sports film is based on the legendary athlete, who sold the story for just one rupee and the remuneration from the film will be used for the benefit of needy athletes.
The film will hit the theatres on July 12. (ANI)
