Melbourne, Jan 22 (ANI): Opener Aaron Finch is eager to break out of the shadows of T20 and ODI cricket to make his Test debut for Australia in 2014.
The 27-year-old, who was awarded Australian T20 player of the year at the Allan Border medal, said his main ambition was to play Test cricket.
He said that Dave Warner is an ideal opening partner in one-day cricket and a role model in his pursuit of a baggy green as well.
Warner and Finch both prefer to free their arms (with career ODI strikerates of 82 and 98 respectively).
In three matches paired together already this summer, they have proved effective, with big scores contributing to successful run chases.
Finch, who made 121 in the first one-day win over England, said opening for Australia with Warner was made easier because rivals focused their plans towards his partner, Telegraph.com.au reports.
The pair won't bat together in Perth on Friday due to Warner being rested. (ANI)
