London, Nov. 3 (ANI): Boxing coach Shane Mcguigan has bucked up Andrew Flintoff as he prepares for his first ring debut at the MEN Arena.
The retired England cricket hero will appear alongside David Price at a BoxNation press conference where his opponent for the November 30 bout is expected to be revealed.
McGuigan, the son of former world featherweight champion Barry, said that he was happy with the way Flintoff had shaped up in the sport.
"He keeps making these little improvements, there's nothing more that I can ask of him. He comes in, gives it 100 per cent every time. He sticks to his diet as you can see, he's dropped 21 kilos now," The Sun quoted McGuigan, as saying.
"He's starting to look like a fighter, it's just about getting that confidence and a bit more experience in the ring and hopefully he'll be good to go come November 30," he said.
Flintoff, 34, also revealed how visits from friendly faces from the world of showbiz and sport have spurred him on.
"I've been lucky to have quite a few people pop down the gym to watch me train. Friends and family, stars of boxing, world stars, people from comedy and sport," he said.
"You spend a lot of time in the gym just having Shane to amuse you and so getting a few people in every now and again to change it up gives you that energy. It's nice to see that people are taking an interest and are getting involved. It gives you that pep up every now and then," he added. (ANI)
