Ferrer wins Heineken Open

Auckland, Jan 12 (IANS) Spanish top seed David Ferrer Saturday won the Heineken Open men's tennis tournament here beating German second seed Phillip Kohlschreiber in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-1 in the final.

World No.5 Ferrer won the first set in a tie break and took the second set 6-1, reports Xinhua.

It is Ferrer's fourth Heineken Open title and third in a row and that equals the record of the Australian great Roy Emerson.

Top seeds Colin Fleming of Britain and Bruno Soares of Brazil won the men's doubles title.
