Ferguson highlights 'drinks, sex and money' as biggest dangers faced by teen stars

London, Feb 13(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed drinks, sex and money are the three biggest dangers faced by teen football stars these days.

Ferguson is famous for nurturing young talent to the top, including the likes of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and, more recently, Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley, but the wily Scot said he has to be constantly vigilant these days to keep his youngsters on the path to success, the Sun reports.

Ferguson revealed the problems he has encountered with some of his teenage prospects, Saying he has built a football club with a great youth system, adding they have brought young players through continuously and that is part of the success of the club.

Fergie added there are certain side attractions to becoming a footballer, so there are a lot of things we have to do to help them through.

The gaffer said girlfriends will of course come into the lives of young footballers and drink can be a problem along with the dangers of drugs.

Fergie further said all these are the things that young people from 16 to 19 have to experience, adding handling money is not easy for young people either and you sometimes see them drive up in a flash car but that is when they immediately do something about that.

Ferguson added United also have kids from broken homes, adding every club gets a lot of those kind of kids these days where their father and mother have split up and then the club would have to deal with both sides of it.

The Old Trafford boss also stressed on the importance of developing good character of young footballers, and added that making them realise that football is not an easy is job is also pivotal. (ANI)
