Facebook fixes 'bug that brought down parts of Internet to its knees'

Washington, Feb 8 (ANI): Facebook has fixed a bug that briefly brought parts of the Internet to its knees, the social networking giant has said.

The firm said that it quickly resolved the bug redirected people from third party sites with Facebook Login to Facebook.com.

Many people on Twitter reported that while surfing the web they were suddenly re-directed to a Facebook error page, the Huffington Post reports.

According to a report by Buzzfeed, the issue affected only people who were logged into Facebook.

The Next Web speculated that the issue could have stemmed from Facebook Connect, which lets Facebook users connect their accounts with third party websites. (ANI)
