Ex-Oz star Katich says Marsh has right attitude for Oz recall

Sydney, Jan 16(ANI): Big Bash League team Perth Scorchers captain Simon Katich has lauded opening batsman Shaun Marsh for his right attitude towards the game following his struggle with personal injuries to get himself in contention of a recall in the national team.

Injury-prone Marsh has struggled with hamstring and thumb complaints over the past month, but is still the BBL's leading run scorer with 328 runs at 65.60 and is knocking on the door for an international recall, News.com.au reports.

Marsh has not played for Australia since being axed from the Test team after a nightmare series against India last year and a horror 12 months ensued for the 29-year-old, culminating in his demotion from the WA Sheffield Shield team in October following a boozy night out while in South Africa for the Champions League.

Marsh's alluring form makes it almost impossible for the Australian selectors to overlook him for their upcoming Twenty20 internationals against Sri Lanka and the West Indies.

However, Katich said the explosive left-hander's enhanced attitude was just as crucial as his batting form, adding that Marsh has got through this tournament with a few little niggles and that's testament to him wanting to be out there for the boys and playing for the team.

Katich said Marsh's ethics were superb, and added that the opening batsman has made a strong comeback after facing tough times out of the game.

Katich said Marsh's rich vein of form means the selectors couldn't ignore him for long. (ANI)
