Eng star Sarah Taylor on verge of becoming first woman to play county cricket with men

Sydney, Jan 15(ANI): England star player Sarah Taylor is on the verge of becoming the first woman ever to play for a men English county team.

Taylor said Sussex contacted the women's national team coach Mark Lane about using her back-up wicketkeeper for its second team next season, News.com.au reports.

Taylor told a British newspaper on Monday that she would love to play for the men team, however, there was a part in her that doubted herself.

Taylor will play for a men's club team in Birmingham this year but could be on standby if Sussex needed a wicketkeeper at short notice, the paper said.

The 23-year-old Taylor, who is about to leave for the 50-over World Cup in India, said it is a daunting prospect but it's brilliant that coach Lane backs her to do it in men's cricket. (ANI)
