Calcutta, April 1: Hyundai and Honda have hiked prices to offset the increased cost of onboard diagnostic (OBD) compliance of their cars.
Honda Cars India Ltd said the hike would range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 across models. For Hyundai Motor India, the increase would be between Rs 575 and Rs 2,830.
OBD provides information on the health of various sub-systems in a vehicle to the owner or the mechanic. The transport ministry has recently notified the upgraded OBD II norms.
Honda's hatchback Brio will be dearer by Rs 2,000 and the City by Rs 3,000. Hyundai's entry-level hatch Eon will be costlier by Rs 2,500, while the Santro will cost Rs 2,830 more.
