Du Plessis says Proteas need to be at best to beat 'dangerous' Kiwis

Johannesburg, Jan 22(ANI): South Africa stand-in captain Faf du Plessis has claimed the team would need to play at their best levels if they were to defeat a dangerous New Zealand team in the remaining two matches of the ongoing series after losing the first one-day at Paarl by one wicket.

Du Plessis added that they know that they have to play very close to their full potential to beat New Zealand since they are dangerous one-day side, Sport24 reports.

Du Plessis, who was speaking ahead of the second ODI in Kimberley, added the Proteas are under some pressure but it's a nice kind of pressure and it will suit them as they were a little bit relaxed in that first game, adding it's a nice little challenge for them.

ODI captain AB de Villiers was given a two-match suspension for his team's slow over rate in that match.

In the circumstances, Du Plessis had been given the responsibility and said it was a nice surprise for him.

Du Plessis said he hoped the wicket would assist the pace bowlers and offer some pace and bounce but he would be the sixth bowler in the side and turn his arm if necessary. (ANI)
