Disappointed with India’s approach: Gavaskar

Gavaskar criticised the Indians for their lacklustre “approach and attitude” towards preparations.

Calcutta: Former India stars, on Saturday, lashed out at the Indian team’s disastrous performance in the third Test against England at the Eden.

Sunil Gavaskar criticised the Indians for their lacklustre “approach and attitude” towards preparations, saying it was precisely the reason behind the hosts’ pathetic show.

Here’s what they had to say (alphabetically):

Sourav Ganguly: What India need to do now is just focus on what lies ahead and win the next Test at any cost instead of pondering over the long term immediately. That’s what matters if they are to go forward. It’s of no use contemplating over what has happened so far.

Sunil Gavaskar: We have been outplayed totally in all aspects of the game. Indian players need to look at their approach and attitude towards the preparation ahead of a game.

Talent wise there is no question, but I am disappointed with the approach of the Indian cricketers in the last one year.

Arun Lal: Winning the next Test will be of immense importance for India, as it’s also their immediate remedy. Given the results here and in Mumbai, I think there could be some changes in the squad going into the final Test (in Nagpur). But it’s for the selectors to decide whether they should ring in changes or continue with the present.

Brijesh Patel: I have no words at the moment for all that has been happening. It’s the selectors who need to be questioned.
