Dhoni: Yuvraj was brilliant

Pune: For Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh was simply "brilliant" on the field in the first T20 International of the India-England series.

Man of the Match Yuvraj contributed both with the ball and the bat ' 3/19 and 38. At the presentation, Yuvraj said that he loves playing T20 cricket.

Dhoni also felt that they fielded very well. India's fielding, which was often lacklustre during the Test improved considerably. Ajinkya Rahane claimed three out-field catches and Virat Kohli took a superb, low catch at long-on. The electric Suresh Raina was also there. It was a far more athletic appearance by the Indians on the field.

The following are excerpts

Mahendra Singh Dhoni: Yuvraj was brilliant. He bowled really well and at the right pace. I felt each and every bowler, apart from Yuvraj, bowled at least one bad over in the game. But I'm overall very happy with the performance. And the fielding, which I wanted the team to do well, I thought we did brilliantly.

The pressure was on the bowlers. The way Hales started ' he went after the bowlers ' that was the difficult part. We all know it's a bit easier to score against the new ball on the subcontinent, particularly in India. It was important from the eighth over that we tried to bring the team back into the game.

In the shorter formats, we have done quite well and it builds the confidence.

Eoin Morgan: We lacked some discipline with the batting… Alex Hales did well, but we lacked about 15-20 runs. We never seemed to get going as we lost wickets at wrong times. We didn't get the early wickets but we were always in the game… But it's tough defending that score. We're a young side and we've shown a lot of promise… We'll have to pick ourselves up

Yuvraj Singh: Well, when it comes to T20, I just like to go there and express myself… I try and hit everything straight. I was trying to bowl a bit slow… I thought the ball was coming onto the bat and bowling a bit slow I thought might really help. So I tried to vary the pace and not give too many loose balls.

I don't know about the pitch because I didn't play here last year for the Pune Warriors, but I thought chasing was a good idea because of the dew and because the ball comes on better in the second innings.

I want to keep playing well... I don't need a break. I have been away for a year and now I need to play as much as possible… Train harder and work harder.
