Dhoni reportedly miffed with Gambhir's attitude and on field ethics

Mumbai, Dec. 12 (ANI): A media report has quoted an Indian cricket team player, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, as revealing that skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is unhappy with the attitude and on field ethics of opener Gautam Gambhir, and has complained about this to the BCCI.

The report claimed that Dhoni was of the view that Gambhir is putting his interest above the team's.

What has reportedly irked Dhoni was Gambhir's second innings knock in Mumbai, where he almost batted through the innings, but failed to shield the tailenders and also scored at a slow pace.

He was also guilty of running out in form middle order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and fellow opener Virender Sehwag in the Kolkata Test.

According to the media report, the rest of the Indian squad is reportedly unhappy on this score, which reportedly led Dhoni to take up the matter with the BCCI.

BCCI officials have reportedly assured Dhoni that they will speak to Gambhir before the Nagpur Test.

There is a view that Gambhir is not performing to his potential in this series.

There is another view that Dhoni is undermining Gambhir.

Meanwhile, former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad has said that Dhoni needs to assess his own performance first before pointing fingers at others in the squad, including Gambhir.

According to other experts, Dhoni probably sees Gambhir emerging as a potential threat to his captaincy, and therefore, wants to undermine him. (ANI)
